How do you feel about solitary vs. collaborative writing?
I feel I’m most confident and fluid when writing alone. I’m very much influenced by the company I surround myself with so it’s nice to express, what feels like to me, in true nature. In the same breath, I have written some of my favorite pieces as apart of a collaborative process but I definitely prefer solitary writing.
What does the term “poetic process” mean to you?
Poetic process is the continual flow and evolution of your poetry journey, through favored writings and pieces you feel very indifferent about.
Do you feel it still is (or ever has) been important to memorize poems?
I think memorizing poems is as important as you want/need it to be. I enjoy being able to share my experiences according to a specific rhythm, so it’s important to me to rehearse for hours and ingrain my creations in my brain.
Do you ever get sick of poetry?
Occasionally, but mostly no.
Do you have any advice to veterans of poetry?
Keep writing and breathing deeply.
In your mind, are technology and poetry in bed together or still in an awkward flirting phase?
Technology and poetry definitely been in bed together and thoroughly enjoy one another’s company. It’s easy to connect with different poetry scenes onilne, listen to and read other poet’s poems, or even just writing (typing) poetry in a notes app on your cell phone.
Who are five poets, local and non local, dead or alive, that you admire?
Kathy Tran (Moon Child)
